Plan Albania as a route: when the coast and inland cities share a good month

The climate question for Albania is not solved by ranking Sarandë, Tirana and Berat separately.

Route one: culture first, coast second

Tirana and Berat select May, June, September and October as their four strongest editorial candidates. Sarandë shifts its window toward June through September. Only June and September appear in all three sets.

June produces typical daytime highs of about 26.0 °C in Tirana, 28.3 °C in Berat and 28.0 °C in Sarandë. The sea near Sarandë averages roughly 22.2 °C. That makes June the earlier complete-route option: warm enough for the coast, but below the inland summer maximum.

September changes the balance. Tirana averages about 24.8 °C by day, Berat 26.1 °C and Sarandë 26.1 °C. The sea near Sarandë remains around 24.4 °C. For a route that wants genuine late-summer water without peak inland heat, September is the stronger common answer.

Route two: Sarandë is the reason for the trip

July and August then become more persuasive. Sarandë has typical daytime highs around 31.6 °C in both months. Sea temperature reaches about 24.1 °C in July and 25.4 °C in August.

The same dates create a different problem inland. Tirana rises to roughly 30.4–30.9 °C, while Berat reaches about 32.4–32.6 °C. Those values reduce the city-travel score. A month can be excellent for a coast-led trip and still be a weak answer for a balanced circuit.

This distinction prevents a common content error: calling July “best for Albania” when the evidence only makes it best for one kind of itinerary.

Route three: Tirana and Berat without a swimming requirement

Berat's highest intent score occurs in May, when its typical daytime high is about 21.8 °C. Tirana is around 20.2 °C. These are strong culture-and-city conditions, but they do not yet represent Sarandë's summer profile.

October offers the later version. Tirana averages roughly 19.2 °C, Berat 20.5 °C and Sarandë 21.1 °C by day. The sea near Sarandë remains near 22.3 °C, while the monthly precipitation pattern is less favorable than in summer. October can support an inland-led itinerary with a coastal extension; it should not be sold as an August substitute.

One matrix, three different answers

The matrix is more useful than a national average because it exposes the overlap. June is the earlier all-round route month. September is the later option with warmer water. May and October are more precise inland answers. July and August belong to a coast-first plan.
